The University of Toronto Graduate Students’ Union (UTGSU) Health and Dental Plans will be working in conjunction with the CUPE 3902 Unit 1 Top-Up Plan. Both Plans are administered by Green Shield Canada CUPE 3902 Member Info – Top Up Plan
Eligibility
To be eligible for the CUPE 3902 Top Up Plan you MUST be a member of CUPE 3902 Unit 1 who has been employed for at least 30 hours of work during the plan year (September 1st to August 31st). You MUST also be enrolled in the UTGSU Health and Dental Plan. Once eligible, you will have coverage retroactive to the start of the Plan Year of September 1st each year.
Family Eligibility
For your family to be eligible for the CUPE 3902 Top Up Plan they MUST also be enrolled in the UTGSU Health and Dental Plans. Visit www.studentcare.ca to opt in your family. You must apply in the first term in which you are registered (proof required). For Fall Session: Opt-in dates September 1, 2023-October 3, 2023. **No exceptions will be made if the opt-in date is missed**
How to Co-ordinate your Benefits
You can co-ordinate your benefits, that means you can use both plans, to receive up to 100% coverage. By completing both plan information, each medical expense can be claimed first against your UTGSU plan and then any remaining expenses against the CUPE 3902 Unit 1 Top Up Plan to the maximum amounts allowable.
