Chief Returning Officer (CRO)

The UTGSU is seeking to hire a Chief Returning Officer for Board By-Elections this fall. Prior election experience at any level, experience in volunteer/staff management, and excellent organizational and interpersonal skills are all assets. Remuneration is $20/hr for approximately 60 hours of work. UTGSU Council Chair

The University of Toronto Graduate Students’ Union is currently seeking to hire a Chair for the UTGSU Board of Directors for the 2022/23 academic year.  Preference will be given to those with experience in Bourinot’s or Roberts’ Rules of Order. Applicants are encouraged to highlight any virtual chairing experiences and familiarity using Zoom in similar contexts. While we are particularly interested in receiving applications from UTGSU members, this position is open to the public. Equity Officer

The Equity Officer monitors email and provides appropriate referrals to equity related offices or policies on campus for members. Additionally, they monitor General Council meetings and advise the UTGSU General Council Chair if a member has violated the Equity Statement. The Equity Officer is responsible for developing and upholding a Strike System, should a member need to be removed from a meeting space. They notify the UTGSU Executive Director of any equity related complaints or concerns. The Equity Officer makes recommendations to the UTGSU Executive Committee on implementing equity related policies and frameworks.Provide a report at the end of each term, with a summary of complaints and recommendations.

UTGSU General Council Secretary

The duties of the UTGSU General Council Secretary include being present at every General Council meeting to take minutes. Editing, proofreading and providing a draft of meeting minutes to the Chair, Vice President Internal, Executive Director and Union Affairs Coordinator within two weeks after the last Council meeting. They track the previous meeting’s attendance to include with the and they refer to the Otter transcripts to ensure meeting minutes are accurate. The Secretary is responsible, alongside Council Chair, for signing off on all minutes of Council meetings. Additionally, they are required to provide cheque requisition forms to the Executive Director and Finance Administrator of the UTGSU. Sending completed minutes to the Vice President Internal and Executive Director.
