Supervisor Relationships Campaign

The Graduate Affairs Committee is focused on addressing academic and university issues graduate students face at UofT, including issues related to academic policy, student-supervisory relations and issues of academic freedom. A large focus of the Committee in 2024-25 is to tackle issues with student-supervisor relationships.

Goal

Help students navigate and mitigate student-supervisor conflicts with improved access to resources, dispute resolution and advoacy
Change faculty hiring and training processes

Strategies

  1. Work towards better understanding general issues and trends in supervisor relations through feedback from students.
  2. Create flow charts for departmental and university dispute resolution and governance processes.
  3. Build awareness campaigns for departments and course unions.
  4. Advocate for policy changes that better support students experiencing issues with their supervisors.
