Volunteer
There are several ways for Members to get involved at the UTGSU. Most graduate students at U of T are Members and you can learn more about this on our Membership page.
Check out some of the current ways you can get involved:
The UTGSU has a number of Committees that work on various issues that graduate students face such as academic, civic, environmental and political issues. Committees are a great way to get involved in issues that you might be passionate about. They are also a great space to grow and meet graduate students in different departments.
Caucuses advocate for and demand representation of their members within the UTGSU, its activities, and in the broader University community by making recommendations to the Board of Directors and by undertaking initiatives of importance to the Caucus Members. They often host events and their activities are driven by members of the caucus.
The UTGSU supports and resources a number of student-run groups that provide advocacy or services on specific topics. These groups receive support due to prior referendums where students voted in favour of the group. Many of the groups will have volunteer and leadership opportunities available.
All Members have the opportunity to run in elections for the UTGSU at least once a year – this is known as our General Elections. Information will always be shared in the UTGSU Digest. Pay attention to the timeline so that you are aware of the required deadlines.
The UTGSU will occasionally have project, part-time or full-time jobs available for students and community members. Paid opportunities are typically also announced on the UTGSU Digest.
