Assembly Meetings
The UTGSU Assembly is a forum for Course Unions and their Representatives to discuss University and UTGSU affairs. Representatives can propose motions for consideration at a Board of Directors’ meeting (UTGSU By-law; Article 5.5.1-5.5.2).
Please note that if you are a course union representative intending to send a proxy, then you must email your name, course union, and name of your intended proxy to membership@utgsu.ca and to internal@utgsu.ca no later than 48 hours prior to the meeting. (Please refer to Policy O3 in our Policy Handbook).

GUESTS:
Members who are not course union representatives must register by sending an email to register@utgsu.ca with the subject line ‘Guest’ before noon on the date of the assembly meeting. Your email to register@utgsu.ca must include your 1) First and Last Name, 2) the email address that you would like to receive meeting information to, and your 3) Student Number.
Board of Directors’ Meetings
The Board of Directors is hereby vested with the governance and management of the UTGSU (UTGSU By-law; Article 4.3.2). The Board of Directors shall consist of a minimum of three (3) and a maximum of fifty (50) Directors, as provided for in the Articles of Continuance of the UTGSU (UTGSU By-law; Article 4.1.1).
Note: We will be announcing the by-elections date soon for the vacant Board of Directors’ Positions.
BOARD OF DIRECTORS:
Members must register by sending an email to register@utgsu.ca before each meeting. Your email to register@utgsu.ca must include your 1) First and Last Name, 2) Dept Name 3) the email address that you have on file with the union, and your 4) Student Number. All participation will be conducted via the ZOOM software, so please prepare to have access to a device during the meeting time.

UTGSU Assembly & Engagement
Over the years the former UTGSU council (now UTGSU Assembly) has dealt with the mundane to the esoteric, such as preposterous tuition increases, university blunders, student income tax deductions, divestment in South Africa, the War in the Gulf, student involvement in departmental committees, comprehensive exams, childcare at U of T, housing in Toronto, SGS Bursaries, etc.
The UTGSU Assembly also receives reports from the UTGSU Executive and representatives for groups on campus and in the community. Each UTGSU community member’s contribution is valuable and highly welcomed.
UTGSU Board of Directors and Assembly Meetings are governed by Bourinot’s Rules of Order.
