Volleyball League

Key Dates

Divisions

There are two team divisions – Recreation and Competitive.  Games take place in the UTGSU gym at 16 Bancroft Avenue on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday evenings, from 5:00PM to 10:00PM, October to April.

Competitive division includes hard spiking, blocking, and strict rules. For new players, an informal “tryout” will be held in late September (Tuesday or Wednesday) to help facilitate team selection.

Recreation division means anything goes in a just-for-fun manner. There are no playoffs.

Not sure what League you are in? There will be two dates for tryouts and league matching. This is mandatory for individuals not registered as a team in the Competitive League.

More dates may be added and more information will be shared closer to the date.

Season Information

Information on the league is still being confirmed and more details will be sent out following the close of the registration period on Thursday, October 2 at 11:59pm. Teams should expect one game per week.

Scheduling

Games are scheduled by the Building & Program Lead two Fridays in advance. Games will be scheduled on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday evenings between 5:00PM and 10:00PM.

Creating a game schedule is complicated and we are unable to accommodate all playing-time requests. Teams should aim to have additional players to ensure that a full roster is available on all dates. Hard un-available times should be communicated to volleyball@utgsu.ca but may not be accommodated.  In respect of the other team’s time and commitment, Team Captain’s should communicate unavailability the week prior (or at minimum 48 hours in advance) to volleyball@utgsu.ca. Failure to provide notice will result in forfeiture and potential removal from the league.
