Student Organizations

Course Unions are student-run groups that represent graduate students within specific departments and programs at the University of Toronto. They advocate on departmental issues and help build community through events and student representation. They are also represented in the UTGSU Assembly through elected Course Union representatives.

Recognized Student Group Resources is a UTGSU handbook that explains how Recognized Student Groups can access support, funding, and administrative tools. It outlines the UTGSU’s updated recognition and funding system (including the new Group Initiative Grant and updated Conference & Academic Engagement Grant), introduces the Rubric platform for managing group operations, and sets out the requirements groups must meet to maintain recognition.

The UTGSU supports and resources a number of student-run groups that provide advocacy or services on specific topics. These groups receive support due to prior referendums where students voted in favour of the group. Many of the groups will have volunteer and leadership opportunities available.

The Student Organizations List is a searchable directory of UTGSU-affiliated groups, including course unions, student groups, caucuses, committees, levy groups, and departmental student groups. It allows students to browse and sort organizations to find groups and representatives across the University of Toronto.
